Green Lake Park

Last weekend I finally escaped to Green Lake with the pup, and it was absolutely beautiful!

I'm still in awe over the beauty of that almost Summer day as well as how behaved the little Jack Russell Terrier was:)

Green Lake is a very popular park just North of downtown Seattle. Great neighborhoods surrounding approximately 323 acres of eye-candy...

Green Lake draws thousands of people daily from all over the city--including myself--for several reasons, including it's newly constructed 2.8 mile path around the lake...

Green Lake Park serves as a natural preserve for hundreds of species of trees and plants, as well as numerous birds and waterfowl..

This little piece of heaven situated in King County provides a perfect recreational spot for runners, bikers, skaters, and walkers--not to mention the endless water sports (excluding anything with a motor).

I was more than ecstatic when I found the hangers storing boats. I've never been a rower, but I've always been an outrigger canoe paddler, and with Summer around the corner, I'm rejoicing for the opportunity to get back on the water!

Zoë and I casually made our way around the lake in a walk/run fashion, but her focus was on one thing. The water..

This pup is a sun seeker, sun goddess, and water warrior -- when we first got to the lake she charged for the water like it was no one's business. I held her back wanting to take in our surroundings and as she persisted I gave in and let her inner fish swim...

There are numerous "beach-y" type areas to ease your way into this Vashon Glacial Ice Sheet of the Puget Sound.. and clearly, Zoe was braver than I;)

History Lesson: Geologists say this lake and others surrounding were formed 50,000 years ago. Dredgings of Green Lake have produced volcanic ash from an eruption of Glacier Peak, which occurred about 6,700 years ago.

Green Lake is the perfect park offering endless activities for everyone. Whether you're playing basketball, baseball, soccer, or tennis, swimming, boating, walking, skating, biking or running, not to mention simply taking it all in with a picnic or people-watching... this is the place to be!

I want to live in Green Lake.

It is a nice area and fairly close to UW too. I haven't run the path but have been there many times. I am so glad you are finding great places to spend time in your new home state.
