I love to read. I read A LOT, and I have a lot of favorite books, so this was definitely a challenge for me! I should probably create an ongoing book list? Let's start from way back when...
|
Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls |
For the LONGEST time--even now--this is a favorite. I remember reading it a few times actually, and I may have even watched the movie. I don't remember the movie being that great though.

Then I read this...

The Giver by Lois Lowry |
How amazing is Lois Lowry? This will forever be a favorite book, and I still reference, and bring it up in conversations today! An incredible book that doesn't seem too far from reality if you ask me. I think I'm going to read it again for maybe the 5th time in nearly two decades...

The Tattoo by Chris McKinney |
This book is straight up gnarly. I read it during a pretty gnarly point in my life, too. It's a short read with
powerful descriptive words by Chris McKinney, a resident, writer, and instructor here in Hawai'i. This was his first published novel, which was released in 1999, and I
always recommend this book to people. The complexities of race in Hawai'i, the depth of the characters, the brilliant writing.. it's definitely an eye opener. I'm probably going to read that one again soon, too.

Stephanie Plum Novels by Janet Evanovich |
Thanks to a co-worker back in the day I found myself
obsessed with these books! Janet only releases one a year, so it was torture when I finally caught up around "Hot Six"... I eventually forced myself to stop reading for awhile to get one or two extra books on my shelf before turning the pages again, and I believe I'm still on "Twelve Sharp"... I definitely recommend these books if you enjoy comedy, romance, and mystery. Janet has other, older books, mostly romance-type of adventures, that I also enjoy--she's a great writer!

[Love Finds You In] Lahaina, Hawai'i by Bodie Thoene |
My very sweet friend
Suzanne got me this book and I haven't had the chance to read it yet, but something tells me it'll definitely be a favorite. Who wouldn't favorite a love story based on their hometown? I heard the movie was great--but I was on the mainland during that time, and of course no theaters there featured it. Whatever.

NIV Study Bible by Jesus;) |
This is the Alpha Book. This is the favorites among favorites. There is no other book, which supersedes this book of Good News. This bountiful book of wisdom and encouragement is the sole reason we are here, and while reading books in general is fun--this is the book I should be reading, dissecting, and studying at all times, for tomorrow isn't promised, and today is a gift.

One of my new blogging friends
Cait from
Fit, Fierce, and Fabulous has literally reignited my preemie-passion simply by sharing her story. We're both preemie survivors and the common ground be share goes a little deeper than simply sharing the same favorite color, TV show, or hobby. I will be writing a guest blog post for her
soon, and I'll be sure to share our stories with you all shortly...
Until then, help save a life, donate today, and help my team reach their goal:)
What are some of you favorite books?
Are you reading anything right now?
What "must reads" should I know about?
Were you affected by a Premature birth?
7 love notes:
Have you read The Help? It's one of my favorite books!
I've heard great things about the Janet Evanovich books but haven't read any of them.
You need to read Redeeming Love, especially if you're a Christian. LOVE. IT.
Colleen I have never heard/read The Help, but I just googled it and found it. Looks like it's going to be a movie, too! I'll try to read it before watching the movie though, you know how that goes! I love the setting; early 60's in the South... I already know it's going to pull at my heartstrings. I'm such a baby now that I'm an adult. *haha*
Tara the books are fun, and I really enjoyed reading them. Looking back,it was a perfect time for me to have an addiction to "series" as I was beyond busy in my life and those books decompressed me/kept me sane. I'm excited to buy/read Redeeming Love... by Francine Rivers, right?
and this is why we're friends.... *sigh*
PS. you've inspired me to write about MY preemie story too!
Isn't it great how preemies turn out to be so FAB?
love ya!
NESSA!! Did I know you were a preemie too?! How is that something I could EVER forget? I am SO excited for you to write about your story! I'm going to sit down w/my Mom probably tomorrow to get all the details and write a guest post for Cait (Fit, Fierce, & Fabulous; http://caitmanock.blogspot.com/ ) and I think she's looking for more guest bloggers if you're interested!
