What's on your plate?

The lovely Jenn from Peas & Crayons started this fabulous trend of showcasing eats throughout the week, on Wednesdays.. What I Ate Wednesday. I have never jumped on board with this fun link up until now, and of course I'm on Hawaiian time! Thankfully she decided to keep the link-up open throughout the Thanksgiving weekend, so now I'm not a day (...3-days) late and a dollar short!!

Since November 1st, 2011, my entire family and I have become raw foodists. My Brother and I used to be raw/vegan years ago, but drastic lifestyle changes got the best of us. My Mom has always been mostly vegetarian; however, my Dad has always been a meat and potatoes kind of guy. When I have more time to go into detail regarding how our lives completely changed that Tuesday, I promise to share more. For some reason it's been like pulling teeth to get this post out, so let's keep it short and sweet:)

If you don't already know, a raw foodist is someone who eats 75-100% live, nutritionally-dense, organic, uncooked, and unprocessed food, drinks pure, live water, and as a result alkalizes the body (pH level). The other 35% consumption consists (for us) vegan/dairy-free, soy-free, and gluten-free clean foods.

Science has proven cooking not only destroys nutrition and live enzymes, but chemically changes the "healthy" food into acid-forming toxins, free-radicals, and poisons that actually destroy your health. Our body needs and thrives on living foods--providing our body with raw nutrients and live enzymes results in more oxygen (a.k.a.: healthy cells).

I promise to share the wealth of information I've re-learned, and continue to learn in this new chapter in our lives, including cited references and links for you all to check out if you're interested--but right now, let's just go through my iPhone camera roll and check out what I've been eating lately, shall we?

Daiya is a dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free "cheese" -- It's amazing
Amande is "yogurt" -- Cultured Almond Milk = #winner

Gluten-free bowl of yumminess + goji berries

Goji Berries + Blueberries = Two Amazing Superfoods

Lärabar's are simply off the chart.
Ingredients are very DIY, but why when they've done it so nicely for you!
VitaCoco has always been a favorite...
And isn't owned by Coca-Cola
Salad of Yum!
More salad of yum!
All of my salads include leafy greens, spinach, and kale. I typically always have carrots, cucumber, zucchini, red onions, and tomatoes creating my staple salad. I always add turmeric and freshly ground pepper on top (which I'll discuss in more detail in a later post), as well as a tiny pinch of Celtic Sea Salt. Depending on what is in my salad (avocado, hummus, tahini, etc.) I'll use EVOO with Chia seeds, or simply Apple Cider Vinegar for my dressing. It's amazing how tasty simple is.

I post A LOT of my food on Twitter, so if you're not already following @JennsAdventures, you should be!

A lot of you have entered Amanda's Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge, and when I found out 7 servings of veggies could earn you points, I joined too. I honestly wasn't going to because of everything I'm going through right now and my lack of time to not only work out, but keep track etc. However, since I've signed up late (11/22) I've earned 8 points (4 bonus, 4 points from EATING)! I'm pretty sure you can still sign up, so if you haven't check it out. I bookmarked the google docs, so documenting is easy (if you remember).

I hope everyone had a phenomenal Thanksgiving. Even though my family and I were once again separated, we have so much to be thankful for everyday. I'm still counting my blessings, even though life has thrown me a curve ball, and I suppose it still falls into the category of Jenn's Adventures.

I want to thank all my blogger friends, I'm stoked to have surpassed 100 (Google Friend Connect on the found on the top right of my blogs sidebar). I'm thankful for all who support my blog, and look forward to getting back on my regular blogging routine.

Until then... enjoy these giveaways! Have you entered my Running Diva giveaway yet? Only two days left! Spread the word:)

If you are a reader and haven't yet followed me via Google Friend Connect located on the top right of my Blog's Sidebar, what are you waiting for?! Now is the time to join the party, and leave me a comment while you're at it--I won't bite!

All of your eats look fantastic Jenn! You'll have to elaborate on your transition to raw foods when you get a chance...I'm intrigued! Hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving with your family. Aloha!

I love the idea of eating raw! I didn't really have the willpower to do it though. I still try to eat a lot of vegan, gluten-free and soy-free products but do allow for a lot of other things in my diet (like chocolate)! Things are taking a bit of a turn tomorrow though! I'm excited to share it on my blog. It's nothing too crazy, just very specific!

I'm so happy you shared your eats. I really love daiya cheese and Larabars too! Oh, and berries are like the ultimate best things in the world! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I love your food pictures, your yummy salads look amazing!! I really would like to change up our diet to raw/whole foods, but it seems like such a daunting task that I keep putting it off.
Still thinking of you and your situation, sending tons of good thoughts.
