Tommie Copper Review + GIVEAWAY!!

Since you all have been phenomenal prayer warriors for my family and I, how about I thank you with an over-due amazing review and giveaway?!

Tommie Copper was founded by Tom Kallish who suffered a traumatic water skiing accident requiring multiple surgeries on his back, knees and hips leaving him with chronic debilitating arthritic pain. After finding only uncomfortable, restrictive and bulky medical compression, Kallish created Tommie Copper compression wear. This unique compression uses multi-directional support and proprietary copper-infused yarn to provide relief from arthritis and other joint pains, promote muscle recovery and reduce inflammation all while being comfortable enough to be worn throughout the entire day.

The very lovely Jordan from Tommie Copper hooked me up with some much needed TC gear...

Since I received this lovely package I have been in compression heaven. If you're not familiar with Tommy Copper, Copper, or the benefits of Compression -- allow me to share some key points.

Copper dates back thousands of years for treating inflammation and also stimulating the immune system to fight infections, repair injured tissues, and to promote healing. Copper neutralizes free-radicals, which is especially necessary if suffering from osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Copper is also imperative for the growth, development, and maintenance of bone, connective tissue, brain, heart, and many other body organs. It is involved in the formation of red blood cells, the absorption and utilization of iron, and the synthesis and release of life-sustaining proteins and enzymes. These enzymes in turn produce cellular energy and regulate nerve transmission, blood clotting, and oxygen transport.

So why is compression necessary?

Compression helps stabilize muscle tissue, keeping the swelling of muscle fibers at a micro and manageable level. The benefits of compression and the ability of compression to increase oxygen blood flow to the muscles cannot be overstated. Gravity can cause a build-up of fluid in the muscles and surrounding tissue, not only from overuse or repetitive movements, but also during and after exercise. This increased swelling will often result in limited mobility and pain due to inflammation. Without wearing compression, the result can be muscle damage, including micro-tears leading to inflammation. Compression helps reduce the inflammation that might slow down the recovery process and therefore helps reduce Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS). Yes, please.

All Tommie Copper products are manufactured using a proprietary compression fabric combined with copper infused yarn that by design is so comfortable you may forget you are wearing it--which is phenomenal since the most important thing to remember is that compression products are only beneficial when they are being worn! If they are uncomfortable, bulky and can only be worn for short periods of time--they simply will not be very effective!

Thank you Tommie Copper!
The benefits of wearing Tommie Copper Compression products will vary among each individual, but for me I immediately noticed a difference. I hurt my back/side/rib area during paddling season and finally wore my new TC compression shirt for two days straight and felt like a whole new person. It was super comfortable, so I slept in it, too, and let's just say I couldn't put it back on quick enough between washes.

On top of being super essential to [our] health, looking fabulous AND feeling comfortable, the TC compression products are machine washable and dryer safe. All you have to do is wash in warm water with like colors, tumble dry low heat, and remember not to use bleach or dryer sheets. Easy peas-y.

I also had a chance to test out the calf compression sleeves after several runs a few weeks ago--and I am blown away by how effective they are. My calves are always sore after my runs--even worse a couple days after, and this is probably because I'm horrible at stretching and foam rolling--I'm always wondering if I'm doing it right, get antsy and move on with my workout. Anyway, the TC calf compression sleeves are my life savers because I just slip them on after my run, keep them on through the night, and they do their thing--it's perfect!

It may take time for the benefits to be noticeable for you, especially when considering your ailments, but realize to achieve maximum benefit, compression products need to be worn as often and for as long as possible, so it's a good thing Tommie Copper boasts quality and style.

Are you as stoked about Tommie Copper as much as I am now? Montel Williams is!
