Hau`oli La Makuakane ~ Happy Father's Day to all the awesome men (and even women) out there who have taken on the roll of being a great Father. Father's are important in everyone's life, and I am very fortunate to have an amazing Dad..

For as long as I can remember my Dad has always shared hilarious or interesting stories (to say the least) to everyone and anyone who will listen. I often hear these classic stories over and over and you know what? They never get old. In fact they just get more and more funny, as I continue to grow older--and perhaps experience or now have similar stories of my own.

Over the last decade I've grown from looking at my parents as parents, to actually acknowledging their individuality, and them being a happily married couple of 30+ years.

Growing into adulthood, I would marvel at any old photos I found of my parents, and smile at the thought of them once being children, teenagers, 20-somethings, and their utter happiness together.

Recently, I ran across some old photos of my Dad... Photos I have never even seen before. It literally opened a whole new window for me, in terms of my Dad having a life prior to the life of ME!

I can't wait to rummage through more photos, and hear even more stories...and maybe have my children (in the far future) listen to him tell stories.


I have actually see the above photo before - This picture is a spitting image of my Brother when he was my Dad's age. Genetics are so cool. I don't think people give genetics credit until they have kids of their own, and they're literally looking at themselves when they were that age. Creepy cool!  



Now isn't he the sweetest thing you've ever seen? Probably far from sweet being the second oldest of four boys, though. I think I'll have another chat with Grandma before Dad starts telling me about his paper route and how he had to walk 5 miles to get to school. (Pretty sure his old school is STILL around the corner from his childhood house;)


I have neverrrrr seen this photo until recently and my jaw had literally dropped! This Senior photo of my Dad made me realize how much more I want to know about my Dad. I was mostly all up in my Mom's business and going through all her photos growing up, whereas my Dad either had his on lock-down, or kept all his momentos at his Mom and Dad's house. I'm definitely looking forward to finding more!


The Stud on the far left is my Grandpa, my Dad's Dad. Second to the left is my Dad, and on the far right is the only Grandpa I've ever known and had in real life--my Mom's Step-Dad. My Mom's Dad passed away when she was 15, and my Dad's Dad passed away when he was in his 20's.

I believe my Dad has lived a very full life, and continues to live an exciting, ambitious life with always and with out a doubt putting his family first. I am so fortunate for the life he has provided for me, and that he continues to be that Father Figure every girl dreams of. Yes, I'm close with my Mom and she is my very best friend, but I am definitely a Daddy's Girl:)
